TLD EXCHANGE
– Bringing givers and recipients together –
Program Description
Making a difference will usually involve givers and recipients, of which both benefit from the actions undertaken to achieve a positive outcome. Through TLD Exchange, participants on both ends of the giving process, have a dialogue or a series of dialogues about their positions and experiences of offering and accepting help. The underlying goals is for both sides to learn from each other and to understand that though they are in different positions, they are equals.
TLD Exchange happens in collaboration with non-profit organizations, where the people the organization exists to serve have a conversation with guests that are invited to the Dialogue, often times donors or potential donors. The Legacy Dialogues team works closely with the non-profit’s staff to establish the framework for the Dialogue so that it will be open and respectful, as well as thoughtful and productive.
By understanding the challenges, concerns, and needs of recipients, the guests are able to better put themselves in the shoes of those they want to help. Just as important, they are able to realize how helping others enriches givers and provides them with deeper sense of meaning and satisfaction in life.
A specific topic of discussion may be selected so that the Exchange is about the views each group has about the topic with the purpose of creating awareness about how others see and experience different events and issues.
Program Approach
TLD Exchange is designed to begin with a story shared by a subject matter expert that will convey the message of the importance both groups – givers and receivers – have for each other and the value they each bring to the table. If a topical issue is selected for the dialogue, the story will be related to the topic and serve as an opener for the rest of the dialogue. Once the dialogue is open to all the participants, a facilitator will help encourage the conversation, ensuring that everyone has a change to speak and that the discussion stays on topic.
Program Outcomes
Non-profits can expect to have more engaged donors and gain new supporters as a result as TLD Exchange. They should also see an increased sense of commitment and gratitude from those they serve after a TLD Exchange event.
